Coopers Plains State School Profile

Coopers Plains State School is located on Orange Grove Road and services the community of Coopers Plains and parts of Sunnybank, Salisbury and Nathan. Coopers Plains, formerly Orange Grove State School is the oldest school in the district and has a proud history and traditions to uphold.

With a school population of approximately 200 students, the qualities of a small school with a caring family atmosphere are immediately evident. Our very capable staff know all the children by name and the excellent pupil-teacher ratio ensures that all children receive individual assessment and participate in programs that lead to a successful and enjoyable school life.

The school offers a curriculum program based on the eight key learning areas. Japanese is taught in Years 5,6 & 7. Developing our student’s literacy and numeracy skills is considered to be of the utmost importance and considerable school resources are devoted to this priority.

A proud sporting tradition is maintained at Coopers Plains, with children competing in five interschool sports and sporting facilities including large and small ovals, tennis, netball and basketball courts. An instrumental music program, choir and recorder band provide musical opportunities for students.

The newest building at Coopers Plains State School is the double classroom built for the introduction of the Preparatory year in 2007. These purpose built classrooms form part of an early childhood precinct in the school grounds to be enhanced with play equipment and gardens during 2007

Technology is the current curriculum focus at Coopers Plains. A new purpose built Technology Space was constructed and equipped in 2006. This provides a specialised space for the design and construction of a wide range of hands on projects.

The school prides itself on its excellent computer per student ratio (1computer:4 students) that gives access to the internet, word processing, publishing and multimedia programs from each classroom, the library and computer lab.

Parents are invited to join our hard working Parents and Citizens Association. Parents who become involved in school life can volunteer as classroom assistants, tuckshop helpers or in helping maintain the attractive grounds. The valuable contribution of parents provides a supportive framework for the continuing development of Coopers Plains State School.
