Coopers soiree musicale, 2016

On September 15, the Coopers Soiree Musicale enjoyed another year of success as the community of Coopers Plains State School came together to put on an evening of music, fun and entertainment to rival any variety show.

It was wonderful to see beginning students demonstrate their progress in the Junior Band and to see the more developed skills of the musicians in the Senior Band as they played some challenging pieces of music.  An individual student played her violin beautifully, adding a touch of class to the event.  The Coopers Choir performed an old classic with Puttin’ on the Ritz, followed later in the evening by a student rock band, starring our very own school captain, a smoke machine and special lighting,

The audience was also treated to items from parents and families from the school community, including a beautiful rendition of Almost Like Being in Love by Sarah Clement; Proud Mary and Edelweiss performed by the Kean family; and some good, old fashioned Rock ‘n’ Roll to finish the evening by The Ten Fours.

Students, families and staff happily danced the night away, with only one minor hiccup when a shoelace being tied caused a domino effect in the conga line! Thank you to everyone who joined in on the night to make it both enjoyable and memorable.
