Ngutana Lui Incursion

On Wednesday April 26th, Year 3 and 6 students became immersed in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures with the visit of Robert, a tutor from the Ngutana Lui education centre. After studying the music and social aspects of these two cultures, students enjoyed a very practical, ‘hands-on’ workshop which helped to reinforce their new knowledge. The students really enjoyed Robert’s presentation and had many questions for him.

Robert taught the students about the purpose of music and stories in teaching young people, the importance of respecting and valuing the wisdom of older people in all cultures, hunting techniques, diet, Didjeridu-playing techniques and even a natural-occurring skin cleanser in the leaves of the native Soap-Box Tree!
